First Super Saturday Race In The Books At Kil-Kare 05/10/08
The first super Saturday event of the year proved to have great weather and the biggest car count thus far this season. We had 241 entries and sunny skies in the upper sixties. Yet there was sadness at the track for the loss of a long time racer and former track champion Homer Stacy who passed away this past week. Super Pro was running for $1,700 and had 95 cars stage up first round. In the quarterfinals Ryan Burba of Beavercreek, Oh. in his Beretta had the better light .511 to .515 but broke out with a 5.568 on a 5.57 dial in giving John Montgomery of South Charleston, Oh. in his Corvette the win. Jerry Dunkel of Kettering, Oh. in his Fox Dragster got the win over Nathan Baker of Xenia, Oh. in his Mustang. Christy Morgan-Back of New Carlisle, Oh. in her Racetec Dragster got the win over Pete Carroll of Fairborn, Oh. in his Corvette. In the semi finals Dunkel got the bye in to the finals. Andy Montgomery used a .504 light and a 5.814 on a 5.80 dial to beat Morgan-Back. In the final Montgomery had the better light but ran off his dial in to give Dunkel the win.
In the Pro Bike class 16 staged up for first round. In the quarterfinals Bob Nugent of Trotwood, Oh. red lighted with a .499 giving the win to Homeboy Homer England of West Chester, Oh. Gary Fredrick of Springfield, Oh. used a slight better light to beat Roger Wilhelm Jr. of Urbana, Oh. Jesse Sowers of Urbana, Oh. had the better light but broke out giving the win two Dave Beavers of Urbana, Oh. in the semi finals England got the bye in to the final. Beavers went stripe to stripe with the win over Fredrick. In the final England used the better light of .535 to .544 to take the win.
In the Pro class quarterfinals Dave Baker of Xenia, Oh. in his Camaro and Rich Wilson of Kettering, Oh. in his S-10 dialed in heads up at 10.15 and Baker got the win with the better light. Ron Simko of Lebanon, Oh. in his Mustang used a .525 light to beat Phil Borton of Urbana, Oh. in his Camaro. Randy Smith of Washington Court House, Oh. in his Ventura got the win over Jim Yates Jr. of Xenia, Oh. in his Chevelle. Rob Crider of Kettering, Oh. in his Maverick got the bye in to the semi finals. In the semi finals Crider used a dead on 10.058 on a 10.05 dial in to beat Smith. Simko had the better light .522 to a .525 but Baker ran 10.152 on a 10.15 dial in for the win. In the final Crider used a .511 light to take the win.
In the sportsman class quarterfinals Bob Maxwell of Galloway, Oh. in his Trans Am used the better light to beat Jake Browder of Fairborn, Oh. in his Pinto. Willie Fairchild of New Carlisle, Oh. won a double break out race with Charles Picklesimer of New Carlisle, Oh. James Browder III of Granville, Oh. in his Mustang used the better light to get bye David Rickey of New Carlisle, Oh. in his Camaro. Wayne Richardson of Xenia, Oh. in his Ford Ranger red lighted giving the win to Doug Caplinger of Xenia, oh. in his Malibu. In the semi finals Caplinger got the win over Browder III. Maxwell red lighted to Fairchild. In the final Fairchild red lighted giving the win to Caplinger.
Jr Dragster had a total car count of 24 but was run in age groups. In the 13-18 quarter finals Megan Hughes of Jamestown, Oh. used a .505 light to get bye Zach Deaton of West Chester, Oh. Taylor Manning of West Carrollton, Oh. red lighted giving the win to Ben Browder of Fairborn, Oh. Danielle Kendall of Urbana, Oh. got the bye run. In the semi finals Ben Browder got the bye in to the final. Kendall red lighted giving the win to Hughes. In the final Browder used the better light to get the win over Hughes.
In the 10-12 class quarterfinals Shayla Babb of Xenia, Oh. red lighted giving the win to Michelle Morris of Dayton, Oh. Paige Vance of New Carlisle, Oh. used a .504 light to beat James Smith of Beavercreek, Oh. Kay Crum of Jamestown, Oh. got the bye run. In the semi finals Morris got the bye in to the final. Crum red lighted putting Vance in the all girl final. In the final Morris red lighted giving the win to Vance.
In the 8-9 class quarterfinals A J Eley of Wapakoneta, Oh. got the bye run. Mikah Miller of Xenia, Oh. red lighted giving the win to Cheyenne Masters of Urbana, Oh. Michael Roberts Jr. of Huber Heights, Oh. used a .510light to beat Marissa Babb of Xenia, Oh. In the semi finals Masters got the bye in to the final. Eley used the better light to get bye Babb. In the final Masters got the win went Eley broke out.
