Xenia, Ohio- Over 200 cars showed for first round of eliminations on Saturday for a perfect day of drag racing weather. In Super Pro quarterfinals, it would be Dean Howard of New Carlisle facing Ken Sullivan of West Carrollton. Howard would dial a 5.98 to the 5.03 of Sullivan. At the tree the difference was only .011, at the big end it would be a win light for Ken Sullivan with a 5.034 run. Next pair for the round was Grag Kain of Kettering against Wayne Angell of Fairborn. Kain would dial his dragster in at a 4.82 to the 5.62 of Angell. Both close at the tree with on .003 difference, both raced hard, but it would see Grag Kain with the win light on a double breakout, with a 4.817 run. Scott Sanford had the bye. In the Semis it would be Kain with the bye run. Scott Sanford against Ken Sullivan. Sanford would dial a 4.78 to the 5.03 of Sullivan. Sullivan would chop down the tree with a .5009 light, but would give it away breaking out, making Sanford the winner with a 4.804 run. In the finals it would be Kain against Sanford. Kain would dial a 4.82 to the 4.78 of Sanford. Sanford would get a .517 light, along with a 4.791 run for the win. Pro class quarterfinals would see Bill Emory of Beavercreek against Doug Caplinger of Xeina. Emory Dialed his machine to a 10.72, Caplinger would dial an 11.50. Caplinger got the jump at the tree with a .526 light, and finished it off with an 11.518 for the win. Randy Boiser of Leesburg would pull up next to face Doug Honsted of Dayton. Boiser would dial in a 9.53 to the 10.70 of Honsted, the reaction time battle went to Honsted with a .529. Boiser was able to make the better pass though, pulling through with a 9.553 run for the win. The final pair was Bryan Fox of Springfield vs. Bob Tmplin of Greenfield. Fox’s dragster would dial in with a 9.53, Templin’s camaro would be a 10.02. At the tree Templin would get the better light with a .504, however would breakout with a 9.995 giving the win to Fox. In the semis it was Fox vs. Caplinger. Fox would pull away red and the win would goto Caplinger, Boiser received the Bye run. In the Finals it would be Bosier and Caplinger. Boiser dialed a 9.55 to the 11.43 of Caplinger. Caplinger once again being better off the tree would see a .524 light, and would get the win with an 11.449 run, over a breaking out Boiser. In the Pro Bike quarterfinals, Dave Beavers of Urbana faced Gary Fredrick of Springfield. Beavers would dial a 10.30 to the 9.33 of Fredrick. At the tree the Beav would be away with a .519 light along with a 10.409 run for the win. Next up was Burt Exman of Englewood against Jesse Sowers of Urbana. Exman would leave with a red light moving Sowers to the next round. Barry Coffman of Dayton face Brad Shellhaas of Springfieldin the next pair. Coffman dialed a 9.12 to the 9.75 of Shellhaas. Shellhaas would get the better light with a .514, along with a 9.788 run for the win. In the final pair of the round it would be Homer England of West Chester against Kevin Hoskins of Cincinatti. England would dial a 9.85 to the 9.30 of Hoskins. Hoskins got the better light with a .527 but would breakout moving England to the next round with a 9.866 run. In the semis we would see England face Beavers. England dialed a 9.85 to the 10.30 of Beavers. England would have the better light but not by much, only .003 difference at the tree, England would ride the bike to a 9.889 win. In the next pair it would be Sowers and Shellhaas. Sowers would dial a 9.77 to the 9.75 of Shellhaas. Sowers would have a slightly better light, but Shellhaas would rider closer to the numbers with a 9.804 run to the finals. In the finals it would be England and Shellhaas. England would dial a 9.85 to the 9.75 of Shellhaas. England would get a great light with a .507, and rode to the win with a 9.898 run. In the Sportsman quarterfinals it would be Paul Gibbs of Beavercreek against Sam Bunch of Centerville. Gibbs would dial a 16.67 to the 12.35 of Bunch. Buch would get the better light and made the pass with a 12.554 run for the win. Next was Walt Shade of Fairborn against Mike Haines of Spring Valley. Hanes would go red moving Shade to the semis. Next up was Joe Zimmer of Dayton, against Terry Knight of Fairborn. Joe would have the better light with a .556 along with a 13.473 run for the win. Last pair of the round would be Alan Flora of Franklin against Carl Moore of Xenia. Floar dialed a 12.38 to the 12.40 of Moore. Moore would breakout giving Flora the move to the semis. In the semifinals it was Zimmer and Bunch up first. Zimmer would dial a 13.46 to the 12.35 of Bunch. At the tree Bunch would get away better with a .536, however Zimmer made the better pass with a 13.506 for the win. Next up was Alan Flora and Walt Shade. Shade went red, and that would move Flora to the next round. In the finals it would be Zimmer and Flora. Zimmer’s dial was a 13.49 to the 12.34 of Flora. Zimmer would take the better light with a .508, and raced a bit too hard, breaking out and giving the win to Flora. In the Jrs 8-9 quarters it would be Beavers and Sheppeard. Beavers dialed a 13.44 to the 12.90 of Sheppeard. Sheppeard would have the better light but mechanical difficulties would make the car run off, and Beaver would continue on into the semis. Next up was Alexis Hunet of Leesburg against Cheyenne Masters of Xenia. A heads up Jr duel, both dialed a 12.90. Hunter would be better on the light, but Master ran the numbers with a 12.920 for the win. Marissa Babb had the Bye. In the semis it was Beavers and Babb. Beavers dialed a 13.46 to the 13.70 of Babb. Babb was better at the tree with a .557 along with a 13.731 for the win light. Master had the Bye. In the finals Babb and Masters would line up, but Babb would pull away red giving the event win to Masters. In the 10-12 group it would be Shawn Allex of Xenia against James Smith of Beavercreek. Allex would dial 8.90 to the 9.00 of Smith. Smith had a .513 for the better light, along with a 9.034 run to the next round. Next was Michelle morris of Dayton aginst Shayla Babb of Xenia. Morris’ dial was 9.00 to the 9.17 of Babb. Tree times were almost identical as the pair made it to the finish line, it would be Shayla Babb with the win light on a 9.177 run. Kassandra Crum of Jamestown had the bye. In the final pair of the round it would be Aubrey Cox of Tipp City and Savanna Stultz of New Lebanon. Cox would dial a 10.95 to the 9.92 of Stultz. Cox would get the better light, but Stultz ran closer to the numbers with a 10.006 run for the win. In the semis it would be Crum and Stultz. Crum would go red, and that mover Stultz to the finals. Babb and Smith faced up to see who would go one to the last round. Babb dialed a 9.15 to the 9.02 of Smith. Smith was better at the tree along with a 9.102 run for the win. In the finals it would be Smith and Stultz. Smith dialed a 9.00 to the 9.98 of Stultz. The reaction time battle went to Smith with a .548 along with a 9.106 run for the win. In the 13 & up group, it would be Megan Hughes of Jamestown against Walt Crum of Beavercreek. Hughes dialed an 8.14 to the 8.04 of Crum. Hughes got the better light with a .542, along with an 8.182 run for the win. Next up was Emily Kathe of Xenia against Tyler Vance of New Carlisle. Both dialing the class minimum for a heads up drag race. Vance got the better light with a .583, and ran it hard for a 7..925 win. Mike Morris of Dayton faced Ben Browder of Fairborn next. Morris dialed a 7.91 to the 7.90 of Browder. Morris got the better light with a .543 ran it with a 7.977 for the win. Julie Duty got the bye.In the semis it was Megan Hughes against Julie Duty. Hughes dialed an 8.15 to the 7.90 of Duty. Hughes had the better light with a .531 and ran an 8.18 to retire Duty for the night. Morris and Vance staged to see who would continue to the finals. Both drivers dialing a 7.91 for another heads up race. Morris was better on the light, a .507 abd ran to 7.949 to make it into the finals. In the finals Morris would dial a 7.94 to the 8.16 of Hughes. Hughes would get the better light with a .522 and run an 8.195 for the win! Once again Muffler Brothers of Xenia paid all entries for all of the Jr. Dragster classes, and will do so again on the May 31 drag race.
