Vallo Claims 298th Career Win at Kil-Kare

Xenia, OH. (6/20) - In the NASCAR Whelen All-Amerrican Series late models Donnie Rnner charged into the lead followed by Justin Alsip and Sam Heckman. John Vallo and Tim Allensworth battled side by side behind Heckman with Valllo snaring fourth and then set sail for Heckman. Vallo pulled up alsongside of Heckman on lap eleven but failed to make the pass. Meanwhile Alsip was on leader Renners bumper pulling up alongside and passing on lap fourteen. Here comes Vallo to pass Renner on lap fifteen and then he was after leader Renner. Allensworth moved pass Heckman on lap seventeen and then passed Renner on the next lap. Alsip continued to lead as Vallo inched closer. The caution came out on lap twenty-two due to a spin by Virgil Powell on the frontstreth. With Alsip in the lead and the field bunched up the green unfoiled on Alsip as Vallo pulled alongside and passed Alsip for the lead in his Weiler Welding sponsored machine. Allensworth was running third and closing in on Alsip with five laps to go. Vallo stayed in front but Alsip was not giving up but time ran out as he claimed runner-up as Vallo claimed his 298th career feature wins. With Alsip second Allensworth was a close third with Renner fourth and Heckman fifth. The late model first heat was like a fast car dash with the first five cars running side by side and bumper to bumper with polesetter Ricky Bates leading the first six laps but here came Donnie Renner to unseat him. Renner went on to claim his first heat win of the year. Sixth place starter John Vallo came up to claim second with Justin Alsip third. It was Eddie Simpson all the way in the second heat, claiming his first win of the year. Jeff Marsh had a strong runner-up finish with Bobby Justus third. Shawn Stroble showed off his new ride by capturing the first modified heat as he led all the way. Gary Eaton Jr. was second with Charlie Davis third and Jason Mahaffey fourth. Jimmy Johnson and Jamie Brenneman started in the front row of the second heat with Johnson leading the first three laps. Brenneman shook off the challenges of Ralph Harrah but Harra's challenge ended on lap three when he and Rodney Kreusch crashed on the backstretch putting both out of competition. When action resumed Johnson continued to lead but Caleb Reschar came on strong to unseat him to claim his fourth heat win of the year. Johnson was second with Joe Jennings third and fourth was Neil McClelland. Shawn Stroble dnd Gary Eaton Jr. led the modified feature pack to the line with Stroble showing as the leader on th3 first lap but Eaton was hanging on the outside trying to pass but failed as he dropped back in behind Stroble. Jason Mahaffey and fasttimer Bill Burba was next right behind the leader. Caleb Reschar was on the move trying to advance on Joe Jennings when the caution came out on lap eight with Stroble still back out front only to see the caution again on lap eleven when Neil McClelland spun on turn four. Eatom was sizing up Stroble but just could not muster up enough powerr to get the job done. Chad Poole was on the move as he advanced to fifth displacing Joe Jennings. With five laps to go fast timer Bill Burba moved to the outside passing Mahaffey for third and then went after the front two. He pulled alongside Eaton for second on lap twenty-seven and then tried to close in on Stroble. As the white flag unwaved six cars were in the chase. It was a wild finish as the checker waved as Stroble spun across the finish line to take his first win of the year as his car came to a stop sideways on the inside of turn one. Eaton was close as the cars scrambled for position with Burba third, Mahaffey fourth and Poole fifth. In the sport stock twenty lap feature Joe Hensel and Mel McMullen brought the field to the green with Hensel nudging ahead with Mike South Jr. and Justin Miller in hot pursuit right behind Hensel. From then on it was a battle for the lead with fourth place starter Mike South Jr. working his way through the field to claim his first win of the year. Hensel ran a steady second for runner-up. Behind his it was a battle for third with Justin Miller home third, Steve Salyers fourth, and Mel McMullen fifth. The Oakley Blacktop compact first heat saw Holli Eaton and Rodney Terry bring the field to the green with Holli taking the lead and maintaining it all the way to claim her first ever win at Kil-Kare. Fifth place starter Bo Hoelscher advanced to claim second with fast timer Tim Haerr taking third. In the second heat Chris Clark jumped out front with the caution coming out for a spin by Ivin Fugate. Fugate was given his spot back and soon was out front to claim his first ever heat win. Second was Clark and David Sagers was third. Twenty-one crazy compacts headed for starter Mike Stapleton's green flag to start their twenty lap feature with Chris Boggs taking the lead followed by Ron Sagers and heat winner Bo Hoelscher. Tim Haerr and Aaron Harshbarger were right behind in the chase with Haerr slipping inside Hoelscher on lap eight but a tangle on turn two sent Haerr to the tail. Boggs was in the lead on the restart with Sager, Hoelscher, Dilg and Joshua Spriggs in tow. Sagers kept the pressure on Boggs taking the lead on turn three with Hoelscher right behind. Harshbarger then went to work on Boggs taking over third. As the leaders ran bumper to bumper Harshbarger was on Hoelschers tail. The caution came out on lap eleven when Paul Holley was nudged by David Sagers with Holley smacking the frontstretch wall. Sagers stayed in front but Hoelscher was all over the track trying to pass Sagers making his pass good on the backstretch on lap thirteen. Hoelscher then had Harshbarger to contend with lap after lap but it was Hoelscher holding on to the front spot to claim his third win of the year in the Jim's Body Shop sponsored machine. Harshbarger was seond with Tim Dilg third, Ron Sagers fourth and Chris Boggs fifth. The OKI Mini Cups made their first appearance of the season. Fast timer Joey Greening and Cole Williams brought the heat vent to the green with Greening jumping out front to lead all the way for the win. Brandon Oakley ran second all the way with fourth place starter Courtney Hannah passing Williams to claim third in the heat. The Ray Hannah Memorial feature saw Matthew and Cole Williams lead the field to the green only to see the caution come out when Zach Grody spun. On the restart Lorace took the lead but it was short lived as the caution came out and when the green appeared Cole Williams took the lead with Oakley in pursuit. Fast timer oey Greening was on the prowl as he took over secnd and then set sail for the leader. Williams maintained the lead at the halfway point, as Greening was moving closer and closer. With five laps to go it was bumper to bumper as Greening sized up the leader. Greening movedinside but Williamd shook him off to take the win with Greening a very close second. Ray Hannah's daughter Courtney was third with Lorace fourth and Oakley fifth.
Next Friday night, June 27, will be the running of the second Dick Dunlevy Memorial 100 lap late model feature plus all other regular divisions with the gates opening at 6 p.m. and racing at 8 p.m.
